The number that matters most

463 steps, in one continuous climb, with no lift and no shortcut partway up. That's the single fact to weigh before booking — everything else on the tour depends on being comfortable with that first.

What the stair itself is like

The staircase runs in the narrow gap between the dome's inner and outer shells, so it's tighter than a normal stairwell and, in summer, noticeably warm — there's no ventilation built in beyond what the dome itself provides.

Who it's genuinely not recommended for

The operator is explicit that the climb isn't recommended for elderly visitors, anyone with limited mobility, or anyone prone to claustrophobia, given the narrow stair and the lack of an exit partway up.

Children on the climb

Children aged 7 and over are welcome, alongside an adult, but the decision comes down to how a particular child handles stairs and tight spaces — not every seven-year-old will enjoy 463 steps in a narrow stairwell.

Pacing yourself without holding up the group

The climb moves at the group's pace rather than a race, but because there's no way to turn back partway, it's worth being genuinely confident in your own fitness before the group sets off.

If this climb isn't for you

There's no way to see the terraces without the climb — they're reached on the way back down from the top, not before it — so it's worth being genuinely sure about stairs, heat and tight spaces before you book.
